critical meals
'embrace-me' bowl
critical meals is a research practice that began back in 2013 in Copenhagen by Diego Virgen during his postgraduate education in Integrated Food Studies. Educated as a professional cook, civil engineer in food, and artist, Diego constantly works using a unique set of methodologies –from participatory design, relational aesthetics to sociology– with the aim to positively impact citizens' everyday food practices.
«critical meals is a personal approach of innovation with a transdisciplinary nature across the agro-food industries, social sciences, art, design, and architecture. My process focuses mainly on research and the conception of ideas from experimentation. I tend to speculate about possible scenarios in our future. My goal is to provide citizens with tools that allow them to question and reflect upon their position around our complex food system. »
